We bloggers know how important it is to have splendid photos on our posts. On the whole, people are visual and need something to attract their attention. That is really hard to do just with words. Of course, we can take our own photos but it’s not always possible to get exactly that image we want for every post and it’s time consuming.
So here are 10 sites with free photo downloads that you can explore. Always make sure that you read their Terms of Service and give the correct attribution if it is called for. The image above came from unsplash.com.
This is a great public domain image site with an infinite scroll of good quality images and a search function. There is no need to register or for attribution. It’s well worth looking here first to find what you want. Make sure you click on Free Photos first.
Heaps of great photos. Perhaps start with Editor’s Choice. You do need to register but don’t need to link back to the site though they would appreciate it if you did.
No need to register. There is a good selection of images here. The free ones are, as an example, 400px x 267px, which means they are good only for the web. But you can buy larger ones in the same place. You jump through a couple of hoops to download but you get the image without the watermark.
You must acknowledge the site and the photographer like this: “Image courtesy of [contributor name] / FreeDigitalPhotos.net”. You can tick a box to have an email sent to you when you download a photo and it has the attribution in it.

You have to register. There is a good selection. Choose a photo, click on it and it will take you to another site where the image is held and you may have to log in there or not. Then you can download but always read the terms of agreement for that photo. It may require no attribution or it may need you to acknowledge the site and the photographer.
There is no registration needed. These are big images. There is not a great variety but some cool abstract ones. It can be frustrating finding where to search because you can end up at paying photo sites. Search in the small box on the right-hand side under the header. Or scroll down and use their tag cloud.

This is a very simple site and no registration is required. There is limited subject manner, mainly travel, animals, plants and sky. Great sky photos though. Click on the photo and then right click on it to Save Picture as.
This is a great site with10 new very big, amazing photos every day to download with no restrictions but it might be nice to acknowledge the photographer. The photographer with a link to their site is below each image. Click on download and then right click to save picture as.
There’s no need to register to download these high res images. When you search, be careful because the first box of search results are Shutterstock images and not free. Some searches brought up nothing so you mightn’t find exactly what you want.

No registration needed. An unusual site with some great images, which are sized for the web. Click on an image and it will tell you about attributing it, using code.
